The Coaches Association of Ontario (CAO) is pleased to announce that Markham, Ontario and the brand new Toronto Marriott Markham have been selected as the host city and venue for the 13th annual Ontario Coaches Conference being held on April 5-7, 2019.
The City of Markham is home to many great athletes, including Steven Stamkos, Andre De Grasse, Michelle Li, Sara Wells and many more.
Known for its outstanding sport infrastructure and impressive resume of hosting many National and International sporting events, Markham will be the place to be for sport in Ontario for all coaches across the province to enhance their skills and share ideas.
The Ontario Coaches Conference has become a signature annual event on the provincial sport calendar since 2007, bringing together coaches from as many as 67 sporting disciplines, ranging from those who volunteer a few days a week in their community to teachers and high performance coaches working to develop Ontario’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
“The City of Markham is thrilled to be chosen as the host City for the annual Coaches Association of Ontario conference” states Janis Cookson, Manager, Sport Development. “The City of Markham acknowledges and values the role coaches play in building a strong ‘Markham’ sporting culture. We value our partnership with CAO and our continued work together to bring recognition and best practices to our local coaches”.
Entering its thirteenth year, the conference combines inspirational keynote speakers, topical educational sessions, engaging networking events and National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) training.
The Ontario Coaches Conference is hosted by the Coaches Association of Ontario. Through the Ontario Government’s Quest for Gold program, Ontario coaches are able to participate in this professional development opportunity at a subsidized cost.
The Coaches Association of Ontario is an independent, non-profit, coach-led organization that strengths development opportunities and provides educational resources for coaches in a variety of contexts. The CAO promotes coaching ethics and ensures the wider community recognizes the vital role of the coach in the development of sport at all levels.
